Old Ahmed Final Presentaion Reflection

Date: 05 - 16 - 2012
Time: 11:10 Am

Location: W007
Subject: Air pollution
Presenter: Old Ahmed

Introduction:

Ahmed was so energetic and made the class so active with him and the audience.

What (new) did I learn?

Ahmed gave us some useful information about pollution but what got my attention is the highness of  the UAE's pollution percentage per capita compared with other countries which are bigger in area.

Causes are divided into two categories :

Outdoor: Cars, Manufactures

Indoor:  Perfumes, self-products

However, solutions are: putting some filtering systems on top of buildings, some filters in factories to reduce the amount of carbon and gases. Moreover motivating people to ride buses instead of cars.
There have been some changes in fuel use where they transferred taxi fuel from petrol into gas.

Slides:

There was a good number of slides and words per slide
Body language and eye contact:

Ahmed was good at getting our attention; the eye contact was very good; moreover he was good looking to the board and looking at us.

Fielding questions:
He answered the questions very well, and he was very glad to be asked questions.

v  Solution

The chairman Mohamed opened the meeting at 10:25
1. Advantages.
Mohamed : Advantages

Hedley waited for our response to that word
Abdulla said that the percentage of late and absentees will become less
Ayoob: Abdulla agreed and students won’t come untidy
Hedley smiled and said that’s true , all of them will wear nice clothes

2. Disadvantages
There are some disadvantages, Mohamed said that group work won’t work!
Ayoob: yes but we can do more group work and this was a solution
Mohamed replied let’s focus on the disadvantages and we’ll talk about the solution laterAbdulla mentioned that the flirting percentage will increase
Hedley suggested to put some strict rules which is in our solution already
         3. Classes

Classes seems to be small said the chairman!
Hedley said how?
We said that there are not enough classes (exam halls); and what would happen later on with more students in each class?
Class rooms are a bit too small for us now

4. Communications

Mohammed made this point and said communication is something important but with mixed classes it will be hard to manage
Ayoob said students are going to be shy and Abdulla agreed because it’s obvious each gender is not used to dealing with the other gender and that’s the big deal.

Reflection

I am Mohammed Abbas; I was responsible for this meeting. The meeting was about the possibility of integrating genders in the college. I expect that I was able to lead the meeting in a good way.

However, at this meeting we talked about the four key points. The points are : advantages and disadvantages, classes and solutions. At first we talked about the advantages of the merger, and both Abdullah and Ayoob said many of the ideas. For example, absenteeism would be reduced. In the second point we talked about the negative aspects of integration of students. The most important point is that the students will be less because of modesty. Intervention of Mr. Hedley who expressed his opinion, and asked a few questions that were answered by Ayoob and Abdullah. After that we talked about classes. In the end, we have some solutions to the problems that we faced in the meeting and that lie ahead if we apply the gender integration in the colleges. As in charge of this meeting, I see that everyone has to participate in this meeting. In general the meeting was excellent.

interviews

Wednesday 15th February 2012

Location: W007

Time: 10:30

Interviewee: Abdulla Eissa

Interviewers: Hedley, Old Ahmed & New Ahmed

Position: electrical engineer

The interview was about electrical engineering. There were three interviewers who interviewed Abdulla Eissa. Mr. Hedley, old Ahmed and new Ahmed. First of all Mr. Hedley asked him to introduce himself and he gave them a good brief about himself; after that, old Ahmed asked him about his normal job and if he can work under pressure; Abdulla mentioned that he can deal with everything related to work; Mr. Hedley had a good question: why are you interested in joining the ADNOC group? The answer was better than the question: that he can work in an office or as shift time work. Moreover new Ahmed asked him a nervous question just to know Abdulla’s impression. At the end Abdulla started asking some questions like what the salary is and who he would be working for and they answered it; in my opinion the interview went well and the questions were suitable.

My interview

In my view, the interview was very good, and I think that the interviewers have spent a great time during my interview. They found all the answers that satisfied them. On the other hand, I thanked the interviewers who answered all my questions, and one most important is that I can begin my work in the diplomatic corps. In the end I hope to be accepted in this job because it means a lot to me. Extend my thanks and appreciation to the committee that directed the interview.
